Join the Curator and Artists for this insightful walk through and talk in the new MTG exhibition 'Nature Culture'.
The relationship between humankind and nature has long provided an aesthetic and philosophical context for art making. Nowadays, this relationship is often addressed in view of the urgency of climate change and the environmental crisis where humankind is seen as in conflict with the natural world.
Nature Culture is an exhibition of Hawke’s Bay artists and collection items, where each art work in some way, expresses a less acquisitive connection with the living world, be it aesthetic or philosophical. In this way, the exhibition celebrates the depth and diversity of our relationship with the natural world.
Local artist Chris Bryant-Toi is featured. Alongside Chris will be work from the Hawke's Bay Museums Trust Collection by Louise Henderson, Colin McCahon, Selwyn Muru, Robyn Kahukiwa and Ralph Hotere.
Masks and social distancing will be required. Please arrive a few minutes before the start time.
